Risk, a potential future event that may or may not be triggered, is a critical factor to be addressed in any business environment today. An understanding of risk is essential, as accelerating global developments have challenged traditional business models and heightened uncertainty in every area: R&D, product design, financial services, technology, manufacturing, healthcare, corporate governance, etc. In this business environment, a successful project manager should know how to identify risks, anticipate the likelihood and potential impact of different risk scenarios, and develop effective responses to both opportunities and threats.
The Risk Management Professional (PMI-RMP) credential from PMI recognizes project management’s increasing growth, complexity and diversity. This new certification confirms an individual’s unique expertise and competency in assessing and identifying project risks, mitigating threats and capitalizing on opportunities, while still possessing a core knowledge and practical application in all areas of project management.
This three-day course has two learning objectives: to provide a foundation in the principles of project risk management as set forth in PMI®’s Practice Standard for Project Risk Management, and to provide the tools and techniques necessary to sit for the PMI-RMP certification exam.
After covering key project management principles, the course will take participants through a detailed review of the six processes for project risk management as defined in PMI’s Practice Standard for Project Risk Management. The course will then build on this material by providing exam preparation exercises and other study aids and techniques to prepare for the PMI-RMP exam. Class participants will review the PMI-RMP Exam Content Outline to understand required risk management competencies, learn test taking tips, and answer sample exam questions.
