Program Management Professional (PgMP) Certification

What is the PgMP®?
Program managers are senior-level practitioners who manage multiple related projects in a coordinated way.  Their goal is to support the organization’s strategic goals and objectives by achieving benefits and control that could not be achieved by managing individual projects separately.  The Program Management Professional (PgMP)® certification indicates that an individual has gained advanced experience beyond the skills required to manage individual projects.  This certification can provide a distinct advantage in employment and promotion.
According to PMI’s 2015 Pulse of the Profession® report, organizations that are mature in managing programs are far more successful in managing projects - 76 percent compared to 54 percent - than those without program management maturity.

Who Should Apply?
Anyone who has shown that they have the ability to manage multiple, related projects across functions, organizations, or regions.  Executives or functional managers who are interested in learning more about the benefits of establishing a project or program management office.   Certified PMPs who would like to demonstrate a higher level of expertise in program governance and program management.

What are the Prerequisites for this Certification?
Candidates must pass two evaluations to obtain the PgMP credential. This process takes approximately four weeks to complete:
Evaluation 1—Panel Review: In this first step a panel of credentialed program managers will conduct an extensive assessment of your professional experience based on your responses to the Program Management Experience Summaries provided on the application.
Evaluation 2—Multiple-Choice Examination: The next step is a multiple-choice examination which will require applicants to demonstrate their competence in both situational and scenario-based questions.

To be eligible for the PgMP credential, you must meet certain educational and professional experience requirements. All project and program management experience must have been earned over the last 15 consecutive years.
